OUT OF LOVE WITH LOVE
units of measurement
November 21, 2014 - December 6, 2014
Manteuffelstrasse 42, 10997 Berlin
UNTITLED (DREAMS, 2007)
Schönstedtstr. 7, 12043 Berlin
October 11, 2014 - November 14, 2014
Under the mentorship of gender specialist Lorena Juan Gutiérrez, Angela Kaisers and Laura G. Jones explore the personal observations, repetitions, and variables that describe the dynamics of measuring romantic love by comparison with either external standards or individual experiences. In a non prescriptive way, the artists address an unstable metric system created by a set of elements through which they analyze their emotions and relationships. The questions risen by this process result in a deconstruction of romantic ideals imposed by capitalist society.
SCREENING OF "LOVE ADDICT"
December 4, 2014, 8pm
As part of the artisticDialogue project at Kleiner Salon we invite you to join us for a screening of LOVE ADDICT by Danish director Pernille Rose Grønkjær, in association with Mobile Kino.
What haven´t we done in the name of love? Throughout history we have fought, conquered, killed and been killed in the name of love. We´ve written songs, poems and books in an attempt to capture this ultimate feeling.
What if this love takes over your life? When every decision, every thought and every single second solely depends on another person´s actions? And what if this love is just a figment of your imagination?
Through seven personal stories comes a tale of the longing for life´s ultimate aphrodisiac:

In Dreams, 2007. Angela takes her observations and own experiences of interpersonal relationships a step further to the unconscious level: transcribing and interpreting her dreams.
Over the period of a whole year (2007) she recorded 395 dreams. Now, years later – with the necessary emotional distance – she takes a rational look at those recordings and analyzes them. In order to do so she created an extensive chart which displays each single recurrence of the 38 most prominent and intriguing main characters and symbols in all of the 395 dreams. The installation Constellation (Dreams, 2007) is composed of this chart, interpretations, and fragments from exemplary dreams.
In Untitled (Dreams, 2007) Angela curates a selection of her original dream recordings to provide an insight into the sources of her installation.

As a silent movie theater and part of the Filmstadt Weißensee in the 1930's, ehemaliges Stummfilmkino Delphi offered the likes of Marlene Dietrich room for artistic development. Now, 80 years later, a new band of artists project their ideas onto the walls of this historic location."

THE INHERENT POWER OF TURNING THE OTHER CHEEK
JUNE 30, 2016 - JULY 10, 2016
Manteuffelstr. 42, 10997 Berlin
Embrace your precarious position
Exercise your vulnerability as a strength and a gift
To protest you must necessarily be vulnerable
Resistance necessitates that you are permeable, exposed,
Fragile, mortal bodies united in extreme solidarity
When we live bare to the world and all its possible harm,
in grief there is no fear
Everything is purpose
Do something radical, turn the other cheek
Curated by Lorena Juan.
LABOR OR LABOR - The Experience
July 14, 2016, 6PM
Imperialist and sexist systems of control are imprinted in the way society thinks about -and acts around- labor. Be it how we work, how we give birth, or how we use our bodies in order to make money, we carry traces of labor exploitation and social privilege in our sweat. Almost inevitably, our professional choices determine our lifestyle, our careers define who we are, and our success (or lack thereof) assigns us a place in society. Which queer feminist strategies help us challenge the oppressive working dynamics of patriarchal neo-liberalism? What are the socio-political implications of unpaid work, mail-order brides, and emotional labor? How can we move on from the nuclear family model? What defines sex work? Is “having it all” a middle-class white women dream?
